Who ACPA is today as an association has direct roots to the story of our founding. Our story began with nine women who took bold action to create space and community for themselves in an era where there was no other organization where they could connect.
SINCE 1924. ON BEHALF OF STUDENTS.
ACPA’s remarkable journey that began when 12 educators gathered to support college students’ career paths has laid the foundation for what would become ACPA–College Student Educators International, now nearly 6,000 strong. From this first convening in 1924, 9 women made the commitment to form the association we today know as ACPA and became our founding members. Over the years, our community has evolved, boldly advocating for equity and inclusion while transforming higher education.
We hope you use this collection of history to reflect on our founders’ spirit of collaboration and service. Together, we continue to champion positive change, honoring our rich history while embracing the future with open hearts and a commitment to uplift every voice in higher education.
